Starter

The restaurant menu varies seasonally but for us, the Duck Foie Gras “Au Torchon” with caramelized pear is the top choice. At Dax you can always expect to get the best Foie Gras you can find in Dublin. Other starters, which look equally as delicious, are the Yellow Fin Tuna and Dinish Island Seared Scallops.

Main course

The best main we tried is the roast duck with Medjoul dates, sweetcorn puree, courgettes, confit garlic and a rich Date Jus. It was an outstanding dish that was carefully cooked to its point, served in a very elegant manner. Other mains include Rib-Eye of Irish beef and braised Irish pork cheek. Fishophiles are also well catered for with seared fillet of Atlantic Sea Bream with green asparagus, white grape gel and Verjus butter sauce, while the meaty texture of fillet of Atlantic Hake is paired with spinach, celeriac puree, braised shallots and a red wine jus. Mains are associated with the best wine list.

Dessert

Dessert at Dax is part of the whole experience. They are perfectly made in house by Dax’s own Pastry Chef. Choices usually include ice creams, sorbets, chocolate and breads. The Warm Chocolate Fondant literally melts in your mouth. If you desire cheese, they will display an excellent cheese plate with a selection of French produce.

Our Verdict

Dax, Restaurant, Fine dining, Graham Neville, Ireland, Dubln, Luxurant

If you really want to treat yourself and experience the best fine dining in Dublin, go to Dax. Our reccomendation is to go for the 5-course Surprise Menu with matched wines by the glass, which for €125 delivers great value with first class food and superlative wine.
